Valley Marketplace is looking for candidates to join our team! Starting rate is $17/hr+ depending on location. CASHIER ASSOCIATE

As a cashier, you will be expected to process each customer's transactions accurately and efficiently. You will maintain knowledge of our weekly ad items, daily specials and give customers direction of product location throughout the store. You will communicate issues to Store Manager. If you love working with people and are looking to join a great team then this is the position for you. 

Responsibilities 

● Follows safety guidelines and procedures 

● Provide outstanding customer service 

● Efficient operation of the register 

● Cleanliness of check out area 

● Verifies age of any customer buying age-restricted products 

● Performs other duties as required or requested by management 

Requirements 

● Standing for prolonged periods of time 

● Making repetitive finger and wrist movement 

● Memorize 200+ produce PLU numbers 

● Available to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends & holidays

MEAT & SEAFOOD DEPT.

You will be responsible for providing a variety of fresh meat items to our customers. A Meat Department associate will assist with answering questions and special requests. Customer service is very important you must maintain a positive and friendly attitude at all times. The associate is also responsible for unloading boxed meats and poultry. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to learn, then this is the position for you. 

Responsibilities 

● Works safely at all times and follows all established safety guidelines and procedures ● Responsible for the stocking and maintenance, presentation, and cleanliness of meat cases ● Provides prompt assistance to customers and offers advice on selection, preparation, and packaging of meat products 

● Walks meat department regularly to ensure an organized and clean appearance at all times ● Knowledge of products, able to answer questions and practice solution-based selling ● Performs other duties as required or requested by management 

Requirements 

● Working in fluctuating temperatures 

● Able to stand prolonged periods of time 

● Able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance 

● Available to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends & holidays 

DELI ASSOCIATE

Deli associates will assist with answering questions and special requests. We carry a huge variety of international products our customer service is very important you must maintain a positive and friendly attitude at all times. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to learn, then this is the position for you. 

Responsibilities 

● Follows all safety guidelines and procedures 

● Responsible for stocking, cleanliness, and maintenance of deli cases 

● Offers advice on selection, preparation, and packaging of deli products 

● Clean deli cases as needed to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all deli surfaces

● Utilizes the separate slicer to cut cold cuts and cheese 

● Follows federal and state sanitation guidelines, cleans and sanitizes slicers, and adheres to safe practices 

● Performs other duties as requested by management

Scan Coordinator

To effectively direct and supervise all functions and activities of the Scanning Department and its Associates to achieve the Department’s goals (i.e. sales, profit, Customer Experience, and Associate Engagement).

Minimum Required Qualifications:

The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.

  • Ability to perform basic math.

  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.

  • Ability to perform basic computer functions.

  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 60 lbs.

  • Ability to work with fresh, dried, and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.

  • Ability to work at varying temperatures.

  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.

  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas.

  • Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

  • Ability to engage and lead Associates to achieve department goals.

Essential Job Functions:

Performance of the essential functions of this position requires the Associate to possess the minimum qualifications listed above. These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Safety (Food Safety & Compliance)

  • Perform all duties in accordance with all Company policies and programs, and all Local, State, and Federal laws and regulations, including all environmental, health, safety, and security policies, programs, laws, and regulations.

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with Department standards.

  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce department and Company safety policies and procedures.

  • Understand and adhere to all procedures in emergency situations.

  • Use and maintain equipment in good working order; immediately advise Store Management of any maintenance or equipment problems.

  • Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise that weighs 25 lbs., and merchandise that occasionally weighs up to 60 lbs.

  • Set up and maintain a proper cleaning maintenance schedule for the entire department.

Friendliness (Customer Experience & Associate Engagement)

  • Provide continual training, developmental action planning, and meaningful feedback on job performance to Associates.

  • Provide opportunities for Associates to cross-train in other store departments.

  • Work cooperatively and maintain an open line of communication with applicable departments in the store including the Store Management team and Department Managers.

  • Lead Associates to work cooperatively while encouraging enthusiasm, loyalty, and creativity.

  • Encourage and recognize Associates to provide a positive Customer Experience.

Presentation (Personal & Department Conditions)

  • Portray a professional appearance and be a positive role model for all Associates in the department in accordance with the Company Dress Code Policy.

  • Ensure Unit Price Labels (tags) for all items are maintained and are current.

  • Monitor Scanning storage area for cleanliness, neatness, and preparation for next shift.

  • In collaboration with Department Managers, ensure all merchandise is fully stocked and rotated in display cases, shelves, and other applicable displays according to tag allocation and department standards.

Efficiency (Department Operations & Regulatory Compliance)

  • Understand, utilize all required applications, and current technology as relates to Scanning Operations.

  • Understand and stay up to date with new and current technology.

  • Ensure all reports and records are accurate, complete, and retained in accordance with Company policy.

  • Complete and make appropriate decisions based on all applicable reports to ensure optimum profitability (i.e. price change transmissions, new item transmissions, daily price change transmissions, zero movement reports).

  • In collaboration with the Store Management Team, ensure proper scheduling to meet projected sales and Customer Experience needs.

  • Understand and adhere to Company shrink guidelines as relates to Scanning Operations under the direction of the Store Management Team.

  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce department and Company policies and procedures.

  • Complete all applicable department training programs.

  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance and work overtime as assigned.

  • Ensure the quality of all products and secure them properly in appropriate storage areas.

  • Ensure the accuracy of item pricing, item locator, and shelf allocation.

  • In collaboration with Department Managers, returns, refunds, reclamation, in-store pricing, in-store transfers, and return-to-stock procedures are followed in accordance with Company policy.

  • Understand and adhere to Local, State, and Federal regulations as relates to Scanning Operations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
